Schauplatz Alpen a book reading with Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer

An evening of discovery in the Swiss mountains: when researching for the reports she writes for ‘Geo’ magazine, Karin Steinbach Tarnutzer can usually be found in the mountains. And for her latest book, ‘Schauplatz Alpen’, the journalist and author was also on the lookout for fascinating stories.

Challenging adventures, unique landscapes and raw nature – the Swiss mountain regions are richly varied. In the 15 reports in her book, Karin answers questions about each mountain region, covering scientific, technical, historical and cultural topics. To do this, she undertook a number of activities, including exploring the world’s only underground chip factory in Gonzen wearing cleanroom clothing, scaling a rock face in Parc Ela in search of dinosaur footprints, following electricians up to the lofty heights of a high-voltage pylon in the Glarnerland and spending the night on the edge of a rockfall in a shelter belonging to Uri steep-slope haymaking farmers. For each area, she suggests three tours on which you can discover the locations of the stories for yourself.

Karin shares genuine insights into her adventures, revealing her most exciting and curious experiences and answering your questions. Sign up and drop by! You can buy your book at the event and have it signed. The book reading will be conducted in German.
