About Blizzard

Toni Arnsteiner returned to his home in Mittersill after the Second World War, having been wounded several times. At the age of twenty, he took over his father's carpentry business and made his first skis for private use. In 1958, the Swiss Frieda Dänzer won the first world championship title on Blizzard skis in the triple combination. Roger Staub won silver in the giant slalom, while Frenchman Jean Vuarnet took bronze in the downhill. Further successes followed, such as gold at the Olympic games in Innsbruck for Christl Haas in the downhill. In 1980, after a long period of research and a great deal of effort, Blizzard launched the Thermo-ski, the first temperature-controlled ski. In 1984, three Blizzard skis were on the podium at the downhill in Kitzbühl! In 2006, Blizzard launched the IQ System, the first unit comprising skis and binding type. In 2010, Blizzard received the ISPO European Ski Award for its R-Power FS IQ. And again in 2011, this time for the Flip Core Rocker technology. Blizzard thus also entered the freeride sector. Today, Blizzard's range includes skis for the World Cup, all-mountain and freeride skis. The brand belongs to the Tecnica Group.
