About Energizer

Energizer's roots are in the United States and the company's history begins in 1886. Energizer Holdings, Inc. has been an independent company since 2000 with more than 15,000 employees worldwide. Headquartered in St. Louis, the world-renowned company sells 6 billion Energizer® and Eveready® brand batteries in over 150 countries worldwide and is one of the largest manufacturers of dry cell batteries and flashlights in the world. The company sells lithium, alkaline and carbon-zinc batteries as well as button cells, rechargeable batteries, chargers and lighting products.

Energizer's success story began with the founding of the National Carbon Company by W.H Lawrence in 1886. Ten years later, Energizer offered the first batteries for end users. The first telephones were supplied with electricity using the then six-inch sized battery called "The Columbia".

In 1898, Russian immigrant Conrad Hubert founded the American Electrical Novelty and Manufacturing Company (AENMC) to manufacture and market newly developed batteries.

In 1905, the name of AENMC was changed to American Ever Ready. American Ever Ready became a division of the National Carbon Company in 1914. The National Carbon Company merged with the Union Carbide Company in 1917 and expanded into the United States, Canada and Mexico. Over the next 32 years, Union Carbide became known as the only full-line supplier of flashlights and batteries of all sizes. As Union Carbide expanded, the 'Eveready' brand name was established.

Over the years, all products were changed to 'Energizer' and the brand name known worldwide today was established.

The company has produced some relevant innovations around the battery. For example, the Eveready Battery Company/Energizer developed the first 9-volt battery (1956), the first transit radio batteries, the first rechargeable nickel-cadmium batteries (1958), the first standard alkaline battery (1959) and many other new battery developments.

This is also the reason why Energizer products stand for unique power and the latest technological innovations. The company therefore has a wide range of mobile energy solutions with power for all customer requirements.

Energizer Holdings has a whole range of well-known brands under its umbrella: Household products include batteries and flashlights from Energizer and Eveready. The annual turnover here is 1.9 billion dollars. Personal care products include Wilkinson and Schick razors as well as sunshade products from Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic. Annual turnover recently amounted to 2.6 billion dollars.
