Innovations, victories, tradition. These are the three words with which the company Fischer Sports describes itself. Fischer is primarily known for skiing. Alpine and Nordic, as well as the complete associated hardware program. In racing, new technologies are developed and later made available to all customers. But it all started with a trolley. Josef fish began building these vehicles in 1924. He made them in his woodshed, as well as toboggans and, a little later, his first skis, which became an important business. Fish soon became one of the largest ski manufacturers. In 1959, his kids Josef Junior and Selma took over the business. Fischer finally became famous at the 1976 Olympics: Franz Klammer took first place with his Fischer C4. Fischer continues to research and develop its skis. Various technologies such as crown grinding in 1979, vacuum technology in 1984 or the composite core for cross-country skis, which marked the beginning of a new era: That of lightweight skiing. Another important milestone followed in 2011: at ISPO, fish presented the Vacuum Fit ski boots: the shell of the boot can be adapted to the anatomy of any foot. Fischer is based in Ried in Austria and is still 100 percent family-owned. Fish employs 460 people in Upper Austria. The group is active worldwide.
