About Giesswein

<p>The Giesswein company was founded in 1954 by Elisabeth and Walter Giesswein. While Elisabeth initially sewed sweaters/jumpers and jackets by hand from home, her husband took care of selling them. Contract knitting work for private customers is followed by the first attempts at fulling in the company's own washing machine. The popularity of the knitwear led to the purchase of the first industrial washing machine in 1958. In the same year, the first original Walkjanker went into production. At the Salzburg trade fair, the Giesswein couple were finally able to present their walkjanke in a niche of the Steinadler stand. After more and more innovations, Giesswein began producing its famous hut shoes in 1974. In a very short time, these become popular utensils both at home and abroad, making them a sensational sales hit. Finally, in 1983, Giesswein produced its first women's collection, with matching wool, cotton, viscose and linen skirts and cotton and linen blouses offering versatile outfits. Just two years later, fashion grew with the first independent kids' collection and an integrated baby collection in delicate pastel colors. After further successes, such as the introduction of children's leather shoes in 1994, three special programs appear in Giesswein's clothing collections in 1996: Classic, Trend and Wilde Manda. In 1999, the company patents the invention of the process for soling slippers, making them unrivaled to this day in terms of slip resistance, wear-through and comfort. The launch of the G-Sports line to mark the company's 50th anniversary in 2004 ushered in another era in the company's history.
