Categories of shoes from Icebug

The brand categorises its sneakers for various activities in leisure time. These can be:

  • Walking
  • Hiking (trekking and light hiking)
  • Running
  • Orientation running
  • Trailrunning

The Icebug brand focuses on multi-purpose shoes that offer secure grip on any underground surface for recreation, biking and travelling. This is the only thing that encourages people to spend as much time as possible in the great outdoors. The shoes are characterised by their unrivalled grip.

About the Icebug brand

David Ekelund founded the Swedish company together with his mother in 2001. It is still family-owned today and Ekelund is one of the CEOs. Icebug's first shoes featured innovative, dynamic steel spikes, making them ideal for recreation in the snow. The spikes are now only available on selected models, but the strong grip has remained. Anyone wearing casual shoes on slippery surfaces immediately feels safe - even in places where slipping is inevitable. This is due to the unique grip technology of these multi-purpose shoes. They are constantly evolving because Icebug subjects all materials and components to continuous testing. These are designed to be practical: The staff at the headquarters in Jonsered run through the forest together on weekdays in their own casual shoes or use them on their bikes. Icebug is also a sponsor and, together with its employees, a participant in the Swedish Frozen Lake Marathon and the three-day West Coast Trail over the rocks at Bohuslän.

Sustainable production

Icebug produces sustainably and is constantly striving to replace previously used materials with more environmentally friendly alternatives. However, the desired functions of the sneakers must be retained. Once the company has found a suitable solution, it shares it with other companies via its own 'Follow The Footprints' initiative. This enables even competitors to track the manufacturer's entire production process. The materials used can also be recognised in all details. Normally, these are trade secrets. However, the Swedish brand wants to make a contribution to climate protection in this unusual way.
