About Lowe Alpine

The best company stories start in a garage or a shed. And that's exactly where passionate climbing enthusiast Greg Lowe developed his first backpack in 1967. Since then, Lowe Alpine has consistently developed into a globally represented brand. Greg's first development was an innovation: it was the first backpack with an internal frame construction - a component that is largely taken for granted today. This construction was clearly ahead of its time, however, and the world's first adjustable back system was created. When he installed plastic buckles on backpacks for the first time 10 years later, Greg was once again an industry pioneer. In 1985, Greg's CollarCut carrying system contributed to the fact that we can now carry more comfort with a shouldered load: the shoulder straps were ergonomically shaped in a new way.

Now the company is going one step further and surprising the industry with the new radical back system 'Axiom' with a completely new approach to individually adjustable back lengths - a system that can even be adjusted while being carried. The Colorado-based company is now successful worldwide and also demonstrates a high level of expertise in the clothing sector. Lowe does not have a pure cotton collection, but products made from Lowe Alpine Desertweave. Lowe's own blended fabric combines the properties of 65% polyester (durable, dries quickly) and 35% cotton (body climate, wearing comfort). The name of the fabric is identical for shirts and trousers, but differs in the way it is made. Greg Lowe's visions are still followed in product development today. The result is innovation upon innovation. Lowe Alpine is now part of Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd. and has its headquarters in Kendal, Cumbria, UK.

Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd. specializes in the development and marketing of technical outdoor equipment and has RAB, Lowe Alpine, Podsacs, Outdoor Designs and Integral Designs under its umbrella.
