Maglite

The Maglite company was founded by Anthony Maglica. Equipped with his talent, determination and unafraid of hard work, he set off for the USA and founded Mag Instrument in 1955. He revolutionized the industry with his torch, which was launched in 1979, fulfilling his personal American dream. Tony Maglica grew up in Croatia. In 1950, he fled the destruction of World War II and the communists to America. He spoke no English and earned very little money with temporary jobs. Nevertheless, he began manufacturing precision parts for industry, aviation and the military. He quickly built up a good reputation. His small company grew and Tony focused on the development of flashlights. His products were mainly aimed at the public safety sector. The first torch, Maglite, was launched in 1979. Police, firefighters and mechanics used it and the new, reliable aluminum flashlights quickly became well-known and popular. Other models followed. In 1996, the Wall Street Journal called Maglite the Cadillac of flashlights. Today, Mag Instrument employs several hundred people in its own production facilities, offices and distribution center.
