In 1919, locksmith Harry Soref had the idea that if battleships and safes were made of multi-layered steel, why not use this technology for padlocks as well? In 1921, Soref founded the Master Lock company based in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. In a short time, Soref made a name for himself and his locks found a very special field of application: during Prohibition in the USA, it was they who finally and literally "put a stop to bars serving alcohol". The magician and escape artist Harry Houdini also sought advice from the lock specialist in order to take his shows to a new level. From the very beginning, the young company has focused on innovation, quality and added value for the customer. To this day, Master Lock has remained true to this triad. As the slogan "Tough under fire" promises, the locks can withstand even the hardest external stresses.

With over 50 million units sold, Master Lock is the world's largest manufacturer of padlocks.
