About Specialized

One VW bus, one man, one plan - Specialized started small, always true to the motto of bikers for bikers. For Specialized, developing bikes, components and clothing is not just a job, but a real passion. This may sound a little crazy to some people, but it is precisely this philosophy that makes the difference! What sets Specialized apart is the pursuit of absolutely high-quality and functional products: Innovate or die! A full-suspension MTB? Sounds crazy, but why not? Something really cool, which has long been a reality today, was still far from anyone's imagination in 1985! After Specialized founder Mike Sinyard left the University of San Jose in 1974 at the age of 24, he sold his van for $1500 to finance a bike trip to Europe. After Mike met a woman in a hotel who had good connections to bike manufacturers in Italy, she put the two of them in touch. The manufacturers agreed and Mike was able to distribute their bikes and components in the USA. After Mike solved some financial bottlenecks through clever negotiations with local bike stores, Specialized was born. In 1979, Mike Sinyard launched the first bike - the Specialized Allez - on the market. This was followed two years later by the world's first production mountain bike: the Specialized Stumpjumper.

1997 - the birth of Body Geometry Fit. This is Specialized's comprehensive and individual bike fitting system, which was developed in close collaboration with one of the leading sports scientists in this field: Dr. Andy Pruitt of the Bouldering Institute of Sports Medicine in Colorado. The bike is optimally and precisely adjusted at all contact points based on the individual anatomical requirements of the test person and their preferences regarding the area of use and riding style. The term Body Geometry Fit refers both to the actual process of bike fitting and to a variety of special Body Geometry products that aim to optimize the contact points between bike and rider. The Body Geometry Fit system helps everyday riders, amateur athletes and professional athletes to achieve a completely new riding experience, mobilizes performance reserves and ultimately makes cycling more fun. Today, Specialized offers sophisticated bicycle products at very reasonable prices. Practice-oriented and reliable.
