The Güntlenau campsite is idyllically located on the banks of the Klöntalersee lake in Glarus and is a good starting point for various hiking routes.
Outside the village of Val Müstair, Camping Muglin is located on the site of an old farm. There is space for tents, campers and vans on the extensive meadows. There’s plenty to do not far from the campsite, including climbing, hiking, trekking, horse riding and fishing.
The highest campsite in Switzerland is an ideal base camp for hikes and alpine tours. Mountain huts in the area make it possible to plan multi-day tours and can also be booked through the campsite.
There are a few safety tips to consider when pitching away from campsites:
Always park backwards so that the front of your vehicle is facing an exit. That way you always have the option of driving off without having to manoeuvre too much.
Keep your van keys and mobile phone within easy reach next to your bed.
Let at least one person know where you are, for example by sharing your live location, especially if you’re travelling alone.
Curtains protect you from bright lights, early sunshine and, most importantly, prying eyes.
