Outdoor climbing courses
Already had a go at indoor climbing? Keen to start getting out onto the rocks? If so, our climbing courses are just what you need: they’re aimed at beginners wanting to cover their first pitches outdoors.
Join us to scale the rocks at various climbing parks across Switzerland! We run climbing courses in collaboration with our partner Bergschule Höhenfieber mountaineering school. After a brief introduction to the necessary equipment, climbing and belaying techniques on the rock face and rope-handling manoeuvres, it’s time for you to enjoy your first climb in the great outdoors. The goal is for you to gain an initial insight into outdoor climbing, so you know what equipment you need and what skills you should work on before you head out to a climbing park on your own.
Outdoor climbing experience is not required for our climbing courses. All you need is to have completed basic course two in indoor climbing and have a desire to try climbing a rock face outdoors.

You’ll need these items for the climbing course
You’ll likely have most of the equipment you need for the course already, thanks to your time at the climbing gym. If you need a climbing harness and helmet, you can rent them for free – see our ‘Special offer for equipment hire’.
Here’s what you’ll need for the climbing course:
1 pair of climbing shoes
1 climbing harness (can be hired free of charge, see ‘Special offer for equipment hire’)
3 HMS carabiners
1 helmet (can be hired free of charge, see ‘Special offer for equipment hire’)
1 safety device (assisted-tube or semi-automatic)
1 60 cm webbing sling (optional: standing sling, Prusik sling)
1 chalk bag (optional, if you have one)

Special offer for equipment hire: Climbing harness and climbing helmet
This event includes hire of one climbing harness and one climbing helmet per person registered. Simply list the items you would like to hire on the hire form for your desired store location. Then send the form to info@transa.ch with the note ‘Climbing course 2024’ and collect the equipment at the store indicated (you must present your online ticket) from the Thursday before your climbing course. The items must be returned to the store by the Tuesday following the course, at the latest.
