The Blackburn company was founded in 1975 by Jim Blackburn. The passionate bike tourer saw a lot of potential in the emerging bicycle industry. Jim's vision was to develop and manufacture bike accessories with a functional, practical design and first-class quality standards. Since then, the company's goal has been to make traveling by bike or touring bike as comfortable and safe as possible. They started with the development of tank tops and bags. One of Jim's inventions was the production of luggage racks made from aircraft-grade aluminum. Another innovation followed with the small yet very powerful mini pump. Later, Jim brought particularly light, small, rechargeable bicycle lights onto the market. All product groups were continuously developed and expanded. After the turn of the millennium, the company was acquired by BRG Sports Inc., under whose umbrella the Bell and Giro brands also operated. All three brands were sold on to the leading player in the outdoor and recreation industry, the large Vista Outdoor Inc. group, in 2016. Since 2013, Blackburn has recruited so-called Blackburn Rangers as brand ambassadors every year. The Ranger program revives the brand's original spirit of adventure. It's about spending several days on the road on a bike, experiencing adventures together, sharing stories around the campfire and drinking home-made coffee in the morning. This is the DNA of Blackburn. The first trails were in the USA, with routes through Europe, including the Swiss Alps, being added in 2017. Transa has carried the brand, which stands for solid quality and adventure, in its range for many years out of conviction.
