Two students and one idea - that is the origin of Bookman. The two founders, David Axelsson and Victor Kabo, met at Linköping University. The two spent nights discussing possible business models with other like-minded people. They noticed that the entire campus was poorly lit and that students on bicycles were riding without lights. They wanted to do something about this. The initial idea resulted in a local road safety campaign called Studentlyset (the student light), which distributed free bicycle lights around the university. The campaign soon developed into a nationwide awareness campaign, with over 50,000 lights distributed to students. At some point, their studies came to an end. David Axelsson and Victor Kabo began working for Bookman, enlisting the help of a product designer. Their vision? To develop their own brand of bicycle accessories, focusing on the design and user-friendliness of the products. As a natural extension of the work they began in college, their first concept was simple: make a bike light that wasn't boring.
In 2011, they launched the first lights. And today? Today, Bookman creates inspiring visibility products with an aesthetic edge for cyclists, runners and pedestrians who need to see and be seen. With great attention to detail, quality and safety. After all, Bookman's big goal is to make everyone visible in traffic and prevent accidents. Safety doesn't have to be boring at all, as Bookman proves. These are products that people really enjoy using. Bookman builds on the heritage of Swedish safety-conscious brands. And skillfully combines this with the tradition of minimalist, functional Scandinavian design and innovative technology. The products from the land of polar nights with 24-hour darkness must meet the highest standards.
