In the mid-1980s, Five Ten, i.e. a difficulty level of 5.10, was the boundary in free climbing that separated pleasure climbing from the extreme. The Five Ten company was founded by Charles Cole. Cole, himself a climber and first ascender of daring slab and friction climbs, set about the construction of climbing shoes with special adhesive soles after he slipped and almost fell on a climbing tour in Yosemite. He wanted to develop shoes with a perfect rubber compound that offered particularly good grip. His first climbing shoes, Stealth Rubber, are still popular today and the rubber sole compound has been continuously improved ever since. Five Ten has had a lasting influence on the sport of climbing. Many of the first ascents since 1985 would not have been possible without the grip of the new climbing shoes. However, Five Ten is not just limited to climbing shoes, the grip of the soles is also suitable for approach routes. The brand has also become an integral part of the mountain bike world and has repeatedly set standards here too. The shoes can always be seen on the podium at MTB downhill World Cup races. Five Ten shoes are also almost a must-have for freeriders, trail and downhill riders. The Stealth Rubber sole compound offers reliable grip not only on rock, but also on pedals. Five Ten even has a popular canyoning shoe to offer, because good grip is essential for a safe tour and a great outdoor experience, even in the wet vertical. Five Ten works together with top athletes to further develop and continuously improve its shoes. Five Ten has been part of the Adidas Group since 2011.
