To do something really well, you have to devote yourself to what you do. Stefan Ytterborn was co-owner of a design agency whose clients included Ikea, Absolut Vodka and Ericsson. So he was a successful designer. Nevertheless, at some point he lacked the inner fire for his work. And he was looking for something he could be totally enthusiastic about again. This search led him to POC. Doing what you love and perhaps even saving lives and reducing the consequences of accidents. This drive, together with his love of ski racing and his professional background, was the perfect matrix. And the beginning of a great story, the story of a piece of cake. Because POC stands for a piece of cake. Ytterborn went out and raised money for a company structure. In cooperation with several medical specialists, he developed a first small helmet collection. The start was a disaster. The helmets were delivered too late and a large proportion of the goods were polluted and unusable for sale. Nevertheless, a few weeks later, the POC team won the "Brand New Award" as newcomers at ISPO 2005. The Swedish company only knows one direction: upwards. The range initially comprised a handful of products. Today it includes ski helmets, bike helmets, ski goggles, protectors, clothing and accessories in various versions and designs. POC is right in the middle of the action and equips top athletes for whom X-Games, Olympics and World Championships are part of their "daily business". With their feedback and input, POC continues to develop its products. The most important part and reason for the success, however, are competent and committed employees. Among them, there is a wide range of experience and perspectives: from industrial, fashion and graphic designers, CAD and polymer engineers to communicators, marketers and ambassadors. They are all united by a great passion for the activities for which they develop and market products. Always in a unique combination of safety and design. This is also what characterizes POC helmets and glasses. In short: design is the opportunity for the best possible compromise. Over the years, POC has received more than 40 prestigious international safety, design, innovation and business awards.
