The handle is made of lacquered hornbeam and has a strong coating for increased durability. For transportation, this series has a smart leather strap threaded into the end of the handle. The blade is secured with the Opinel Virobloc system. The sharp, stainless steel blade does not fold accidentally and cannot spring open on its own in the pocket and injure you. To lock the blade, you only need to turn the safety ring.
