Reliable all-round touring ski that combines light weight with reliable downhill performance. Offers buoyancy even in soft powder. Very light and durable construction. With a 3D radius sidecut, it masters wide downhill turns as well as narrower passages. Ideal for alpine skiers who want to get started with ski touring.
The Völkl Rise Beyond 96 is a light touring ski with a more traditional shape. It is particularly suitable for those switching from alpine to touring skis and touring skiers who value good edge grip higher than playful handling. The touring ski impresses with direct, precise turn initiation, good edge grip, energy (pop) out of the turn and all this at a weight of straight 1300 grams (at 170 cm length). This is made possible by short, flat tip rockers, a good mass of pretension, a rather tight flex and a 3D sidecut that facilitates varying curve radii. The so-called 3D radius sidecut combines three different radii in the ski, which are connected to each other over the entire length. The narrow radius in the middle area enables effortless, energy-saving cornering and helps in certain situations - such as in forest sections or adverse terrain - to make the ski easier to maneuver. The wider radiuses in the shovel and tail area ensure improved resistance to disruption at high speeds and in demanding conditions such as wind-blown snow, broken snow or tracked terrain. Added to this is the clever construction with Tourlite hybrid wood core in combination with the carbon tip shovel. The result is a light and resilient ski that masters long ascents and loves wide powder turns just as much as narrow couloirs. Despite its performance, this smooth-running ski is forgiving of minor skiing errors. With a center width of 96 millimeters and the relatively wide shovel, the ski also offers good buoyancy on soft powder descents. Despite this center width, the ski is light enough to remain efficient on the ascent. The Rise Beyond 96 is a candidate for experienced alpine skiers with good technique who are looking for a ski for the backcountry that adapts to them and not the other way around.
