Three friends went on a sailing trip in the Caribbean. And longed for shoes that were light, comfortable and virtually unsinkable. It goes without saying that it should not leave any marks on the fine wood on deck. The idea for the ideal boat shoe was born. Because that's what Crocs were originally intended for. Crocs were created from this idea and a special granulate. They owe their name to the crocodile. It feels at home on land and in the water. And the first model, the Cayman, looks very similar to a crocodile's snout. 160 grams light, non-slip, ergonomically shaped, anti-bacterial: since their launch in the USA in 2002, Crocs have had a stellar career. The shoes are now known all over the world and have many fans.

Crocs made their first appearance at a boat show in Fort Lauderdale. The 1000 pieces were sold out in no time. Smaller shoe stores brought Crocs to large department store chains such as Nordstrom and Dillard's. Demand grew rapidly and the company wanted to expand. After raising private capital in the height of 5 to 10 million US dollars, Crocs bought Fin Product and its production facilities in June 2004. In doing so, the owners secured the exclusive rights to the patented foam resin with the brand name Croslite. Further production facilities were established in Mexico and Canada. Suppliers were contracted in China, Italy and Romania. Even then, the product range consisted of over 20 models.

On November 21, 2007, the company opened its first sales outlet in Germany. A store with a sales area of 75 m² is located in Hamburg's Alsterarkaden. And today? Today, Crocs sells shoes in over 90 countries and conducts its business in more than 30 languages. The shoes have become an integral part of many people's lives. The range now also includes flip-flops, sandals, ballerinas, heels, lace-up shoes and boots. There are Crocs to suit every occasion. Crocs believes that smart doesn't have to be complicated.
