Repair: perfectly equipped for all eventualities

Whether you're hiking for a day, trekking for several days or going on holiday - you shouldn't set off without the right equipment and the necessary repair kit. No matter how well equipped you are, something can always happen along the way. For example, suddenly there is a hole in your tent through which rain is leaking in, or your clothing is torn, a zip is stuck or another piece of equipment is defective. With a suitable repair kit that contains the most important items for small repairs, you are equipped for all eventualities.

Here at Transa you will find various utensils that you can use to repair your outdoor clothing and equipment. For example, universal ropes, repair glue, sewing kits, zip sliders, fabric tape and care products for zips.

Repair kit: for small material defects

A malfunctioning zip, holes in your clothing or in your tent can bring your outdoor tour to a premature end. To prevent this from happening, your repair kit should fulfil a few requirements when you're out and about.

You can recognise good repair accessories by the following features:

  • Due to its compact mass, you can easily stow it in a backpack, for example in a small inside pocket.
  • The repair kit is securely packed (e.g. in a plastic box) so that it is not damaged while travelling and cannot fall out.
  • It is also packed in waterproof packaging to protect it from getting wet. After all, an adhesive that has become damp would no longer function optimally.
  • Repair kits for waterproof materials make them waterproof and abrasion-resistant again after successful repair.
  • Special repair kits also ensure that original material functions such as resistance to heat or cold and UV resistance are retained despite repair.
  • You can use them to repair tents, backpacks, air mattresses, rainwear, bags or clothing.
  • They are available in different sizes and colours so that you have the right repair materials to hand for every problem (e.g. tears, holes).
  • The materials for repairs are very durable and can still be used even if you haven't used them for a while.
  • Some products will last longer if you put them in the freezer at home. For example, opened tubes of Sim Grip, an elastic, waterproof and self-adhesive repair mass.
  • They are versatile and can also be used for small repairs at home, when camping or during other outdoor activities.
  • The materials are as silicone-free, biodegradable and non-toxic as possible.
  • Many can be used universally. No extra tools or aids are required.

Repair damage quickly

If you notice a hole or tear in your equipment or clothing, it is important to act quickly. If holes or tears get bigger, they are often not so easy to repair and moisture can penetrate unhindered. It is also particularly important that your camping tents are absolutely leak-proof. Even a small hole can deprive you of sleep at night if it rains. A hole in the outer material of a down jacket is also particularly problematic. If moisture penetrates the down, it loses its insulating properties and this can quickly become very dangerous in extreme cold. It is therefore best to check before and after every outdoor tour whether something on your equipment is defective and repair it immediately.
